Dear Jerry,
Looking at my newsletter from last September I
started it by saying, "We
live in Central Florida; recently we had two
storms Charley and Frances, you
may have heard something on the news about
these. This was before we had the
third hurricane." I had a light voice to the
newsletter. I was happy to have
my entire family make it through the storms; we
had power and water; life
was good.
So I am deeply saddened and distressed by the
terrible devastation and loss caused by
Hurricane Katrina. My thoughts and prayers are
with the people afflicted, especially our
customers, friends, and family members.
Hurricane Relief fund
During the month of September, 5% of every sale
will be donated to the Red Cross Hurricane
Relief fund.
Victims of Hurricane Katrina are attempting to
recover from the massive storm. American Red
Cross volunteers have been deployed to the
hardest hit areas of Katrina's destruction,
supplying hundreds of thousands victims left
homeless with critical necessities. By making a
financial gift to support Hurricane Katrina
Relief efforts, the Red Cross can provide
shelter, food, counseling and other assistance
to those affected by Hurricane Katrina.

Vermeil |
 |
We have finally begun adding our Vermeil line to
the website.
Vermeil (Gilded Silver) ) is a layer of gold
plated over sterling silver. This Gold-plating
process developed in France in the mid-1700s.
France banned production of vermeil early in the
19th century because the process involved the
use of mercury. A safe electrolytic produces
present-day vermeil.
Where the plating has not bonded, the silver
will tarnish beneath the plating. On gold-plated
surfaces, this will emerge as dark, blemished
spots. On decidedly ornamented surfaces the
irregular darkening adds an aged effect to the
piece. If you are incorporating vermeil and
gold-filled pieces together, keep in mind that
the vermeil will darken, but the gold-filled
will not.

The Specials for September |

The Birthstone colors for September is Sapphire.
Blue is Sapphire's main color. Blue is also the
favourite color of about 50
per cent of the population, men and women alike.
This color, which is
strongly associated with sapphire, is also
linked to emotions such as
sympathy and harmony, friendship and loyalty.
These emotions belong to
features which are permanent and reliable -
emotions where overwhelming and
fiery passion is not the main element, but
rather composure, mutual
understanding and unshakeable trust. Sapphire
blue has thus become a color
related to anything permanent and reliable, and
this is one of the reasons
why women in many countries settle on Sapphire
for their engagement rings.
Sapphire symbolises loyalty and faithfulness,
while at the same time
expressing love and yearning. The most famous
musical example for this
melancholic shade of blue can be found in George
Gershwin's "Rhapsody in
Blue". Sapphire's blue color is also evoked
where clear competence and
controlled brainwork are the issue. After all,
the first computer ever to
wrangle a victory from a chess grandmaster and
world champion was named
"Deep Blue".
All products that have Sapphire in the name are
5% off for this month.
