  • I do not have a fashion marketing background. I try to read and keep up with trends, colors etc. The more I read the more I am amazed but how much I really do not understand about fashion and how it is marketed.

    I see designers like Holly Yashi, Nylu Designs, Elle, and Nine West jewelry in my local department stores. However, I have no idea why or how these designers get their products in the stores. What makes their jewelry so different for the stuff I make?

    How do you approach a store like Burdines, Macy's or even Target?

    So, I read magazines like Accessories and Instyle. I cruise the web looking for clues. Slowly I am starting to find the pieces of the puzzle, not that I am putting it together. I will be laying out the pieces; maybe some of you can put them together.

    Within fashion marketing, our primary interest is in the Accessories field. Accessories include;
    • Eyewear
    • Handbags
    • Legwear
    • Hats
    • Belts
    • Jewelry
    • Scarves & Wraps
    These can be broken down further such as Seasonal Items, Cold Weather Accessories, Sunglasses, Slippers etc.
