Beads are made from many different Gemstone materials. There were almost no stone beads during the Stone Ages. People could not work hard stones and had to use softer materials. It was not until about 5,000 B.C. that hard stones such as carnelian, agate and lapis lazuli first made into beads.
Sometimes there can be confusion over the names of the stones used to make beads, or you just may be a little curious about some of the gemstone materials used. I have created this short guide to help you.
