  Marketing Weapons -- Free Demonstrations

Most people would love to know how to create jewelry, if you just set down at any table in any park and started beading, somebody will come to watch you doing it. After a while, you will get a good size crowd. I have seen at shows where when a vendor is not busy they finish pieces. Rio-Grande even has what they call a "Catalog in Motion" where you can watch and learn from other craftsmen.

Find a place to do a demonstration, talk about what you are doing how you get your ideas. People will buy from you, let them pick out their own beads for you to string.

You can even let people make their own pieces; you just finish them for them. (You can have them pay you so that they can do the work).

According to the Craft Organization Directors Associations (CODA) the crafts Industry in 2001 was worth 14 billion dollars. It is roughly three times the size of the $4 Billion Organic Foods Industry (Source: Organic Trade Association), and it is just slightly smaller than the $16 Billion Retail Floral Market (Source: Society of American Florists).
  • More than eight out of 10 households have at least one family member engaged in crafts/hobbies.
  • A staggering 97% of adult women (ages 55 - 64) surveyed have participated in a crafting activity in their lifetime. Of these women, 88% continue to craft.
